Is tubing or water skiing considered a physical activity?
This weekend for the 4th of July weekend, we’re going up to our Uncle’s cottage as a family get-away weekend, and he has a boat out there and we’re supposed to go tubing and skiing if the weather holds up. I am on an exercise routine right now, and for the weekend, I just need to have a few physical activities going. I was wondering if these would count? I mean, it will definitely get my heart pumping, and it’s really fun! I will probably not be sweating much though.
Oh, and I just learned about some "secret" exercises that all skiers should be doing for powerful legs and reducing injuries. Click here to read about the secret exercises. The exercises were really awesome and helpful. I highly recommend it.
While tubing falling under "physical activities" as exercise is negligible, water skiing is definitely physically demanding. Even the very first maneuver in water skiing is very physically demanding. You need a strong core and great balance to get up on water skis. Furthermore, holding onto the rope requires upper body strength. Finally, you get a total body workout when you consider the whole activity of water skiing. You must be able to get up, hold onto the rope, balance, and be able to stay upright while being pulled. This is just basic riding. Turning, jumping, and doing tricks is that much more demanding.
The fact is, water skiing might very well be your toughest exercise routine thus far. Make sure you stretch before and after you ride to minimize the soreness after.
Edit: In response to the answerer above me… unless you are just casually water skiing in a straight line at very slow speeds, I’m inclined to believe that it is a much more demanding physical activity than hiking.
of course those are physical activites! anything that keeps you physically active is a physical activity
I’d say minor physical activity. Go hiking to rev it up some more.
